The warmth of the inside to the queuing up of the outside.

In the last few years Wigan Casino has been voted the worlds No. one disco.

Has to be my all time favourite venue.

These are in memory of the California Ballroom

The ” Calli”  yet another brillant venue taken away from us all. by so called  development inprovements. Just like what happend with  Wigan Casino and in most cases the local government regret it when its too late and there gone.

I was attending the California ballrooms between the year of 1969 and 1973. and saw so many live artists. Such as Stevie Wonder in his early days, Jimmy Ruffin, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas and most of the Philadelphia artists – the O’Jays, Billy Paul, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes. I also saw the Platters,Drifters Edwin Starr, and many many more.In the late sixties, early seventies the Cali was the place to be.
